Shirley McMillan RN, PhD, CDDN

Dr. Shirley McMillan is a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the Adult program at a community agency in Toronto Canada. She holds an adjunct position in the Faculty of Nursing at University of Toronto and is a mentor for nursing students during their community placement.

Her nursing career has been spent in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities in a variety of settings including provincial institutions, family practice, special school and day program.

Dr. McMillan was the first Canadian to be achieve Certified Developmental Disability Nurse through DDNA. She received her PhD in Learning Disability Nursing from the University of South Wales. Her thesis focused on nursing support and challenging behaviours.
